Where does the time go?

In just over a week's time my eldest daughter will be turning 17!

I'm having trouble getting to grips with the fact that in the eye's of British law she is only a year away from being an adult.

What on earth happened, did I miss a great lump of time whilst washing dirty undies?

How many times have you heard someone say, "It seems like only yesterday"?

Well it's my turn so hang on to your pants cause I'm about to get all nostalgic on you!

Darling daughter number one came into my life via an alternative method than the miracle of child birth! A ready made bundle of joy with her fathers eyes, it wasn't hard to love her in fact it was surprisingly easy.

Her Daddy and I set sail together when she was about two and a half years old, my oh my what a journey we've had.

Still we've muddled through and like I started out saying here we are and she's a few days away from 17.

My little munchkin who's botty I've cleaned and nose I've wiped, my stroppy teenager who's played music so loud my ears have hurt and the countless pop star posters she's covered in lipstick.

My kind hearted lamb who's spent her pocket money on gifts for others to bring a smile or made a glue covered sticky attempt at a DIY card when her pocket money has run out.

My baby, my child, my girl, my teenager who's soon to become a young woman you're slipping through my fingers all the time.

oh tabby honey, life comes up and bites us in the ass all the time now doesn't it.

But sweetie try to look at it this way instead of losing her, maybe you are MOVING into another stage of your life with her, maybe you will be BEST FRIENDS and shop, and raise your grandkids with her...and maybe just maybe she'll smile at you that smile that you know means THANK YOU for all you have done, it hasn't gone unnoticed.

Hang in there sweetie
