A gentle breeze keeps whispering past the door encouraging the letter box to tap gently to it's rhythm of the seasons, the fallen leaves dance in harmony with the winds whistling, a tune with the inevitable progression of time taking us to winter.
Long dark evenings with the promise of Christmas cheer draw in, the fire is awakened from it's summer time slumber and coaxed into roaring song to ward off the cold. Suddenly hot coco and fluffy blankets feature in our evening rituals of TV, homework and the next school day preparations.
The memories of summer are put away along with light clothing and sandals, replaced with woollies, scarfs, gloves and silly bobble hats. Pyjama's and slippers seem fitting again now.
That loving kiss good night is accompanied by a hot water bottle hidden in a teddy bears tummy, poor teddy always ends up on the floor but his warmth was there long enough to suffice a reassuring glow for sleep.
Tuck them in all snugly, keep them warm and safe,
with an extra blanket for Autumn
